Talent Performance Audtion Rules
Please read the following rules CAREFULLY; they have changed since last semester
- All performers must be either current BYU-I students (on or off track) or a spouse of a current BYU-I student.
- A performer can only perform in three Talent Activities Shows per semester and cannot be in the same show two consecutive semesters in a row. This is to allow more students the opportunity to perform. (Exceptions may apply if there are limited students auditioning.)
- There are to be NO alterations of lyrics on ANY cover song!
- Songs containing anything contradictory to the BYU-Idaho honor code will not be allowed. Acts must uphold BYU-Idaho standards not only in content but also in style.
- To ensure the use of deity is not used disrespectfully or inappropriately, mention of deity will not be allowed in the songs.
- All individuals must comply with BYU-I classroom dress and grooming standards. If you wish to wear a costume (no hats allowed except cowboy hats at Nashville Nights), the exact costume must be worn at auditions. You must wear your performance clothes at sound checks the day of the performance.
- Electric guitars are acceptable for Nashville Nights only, but must hook into house system. Cannot use individual amplifiers.
- Electric Bass guitars (only) and keyboards are allowed at all shows but must hook into house system. Cannot use individual amplifiers.
- No distortion pedals. Can use reverb, chorus, etc.
- Each individual can only audition and perform once in a show unless otherwise determined. Persons cannot be in more than one group.
- Each group will have only the amount of time allotted on the sign-up sheet to audition.
- Every member of the group must be at the audition in order to perform in the event.
- If selected, performers must use the act with which they auditioned.
- Performer must arrive at auditions 10 minutes early with information sheets completed. Arriving late may cause performers to forfeit their audition. For special needs or time changes, please work with the event Manager.
- At least one representative from each selected act must attend a performer’s meeting prior to the show. This is a mandatory meeting. If at least one representative does not attend the meeting, the act will not be permitted to perform in the show.
- All performers must attend sound checks, which will be scheduled within two – three hours prior to the performance.
I have read the above rules and agree to comply with them.
