League sports play a regular season followed by a post-season single elimination playoff tournament to determine the champions. The following guidelines will apply:
  1. No games shall end in a tie.
  2. Teams must participate during the league season to be eligible for post-season play.
  3. Games cancelled due to inclement weather shall be rescheduled whenever possible.
  4. Tournament brackets will be posted on the bulletin boards located outside of RecSports Office Hart 227 and on the RecSports website (activities.byui.edu/sports). Only brackets posted outside of Hart 227 and on the website will be considered official. Check your league bracket for game times and dates. Teams are responsible for checking the brackets in person.
  5. Teams may play on different nights during playoffs than during the regular season, including Fridays or Saturdays. If the majority of players on a team have an academic or religious scheduling conflict with a night during playoffs, the team captain must contact the RecSports office by the Thursday before the week of the conflict. RecSports will try to accommodate requests. Though we try to avoid such conflicts, team members may be scheduled in more than one contest at the same time. Please be sure you have enough players on your team to avoid forfeits. During playoffs, only requests due to an academic or religious conflict with another RecSports event for a majority of the team will be accepted. This does not guarantee a game will be rescheduled.
  6. If any division ("Viking", "Thor" or "Leisure") has more than 64 teams, the division will be divided into an upper and lower division according to league win-loss record and a champion determined in each.
  7. Teams may choose to switch to a higher division for post-season play, (from "Thor" to "Viking").  If a team is not placed into the division that best suits their ability, requests for switching must be made in Hart 227 before 5:00 PM on the last day of the league season. RecSports Scheduling Managers reserve the right to switch a team's division at any time during league play and for tournament play according to what he or she feels is appropriate for that team.
