I. Competitive Sports at BYU-Idaho
Policies Main | I | II | III | IV | V | VI | VII
BYU-Idaho Competitive Sports is an intracollegiate sports program managed on campus through student leadership, meaning that competition is strictly among BYU-I students. There is no competition outside the university against other schools. Each sport has an advisor employed by the university to mentor those in leadership positions. Some of the characteristics seen in traditional athletic programs are still included in our competitive program; including tryouts, student coached teams, regular team practices (2-4 times per week), and team uniforms.
Our current program emphasizes the principal of inclusion, and we welcome participants of different levels of skill and ability. Our capacity to do so is sometimes restricted by the number of facilities made available to Competitive Sports.
Competitive Sports require a greater time commitment and focus compared to the recreational/intramural league.
