Service
Find opportunities to serve others in capacities great or small. The Service Area of Activities helps students take action by finding or even creating opportunities to serve in programs centered on Campus, Community or Humanitarian settings.

Service activities include (among many other things) Blood Drives, Adopt-a-Grandparent, Special Olympics, Happy Factory, humanitarian projects, Radio Reading for sight impaired, and even student-driven week-long service excursions.

Blood Drive
Come donate blood at the next Red Cross Blood Drive! Your donation could save a life! We are also looking for volunteers who would like to assist running the Blood Drive. Sign up at the MC Info desk to donate!

Sand, paint, and assemble wooden toy cars and bless the life of a child! Our cars are sent to children in orphanages and many under-developed countries.

A student organization that is a resource for faculty and staff with one-time events or projects that need to be accomplished this semester. Through that, we hope to grow students spiritually by allowing them to give back to the institution—thus maintaining the Spirit of Ricks.

Head Start
Headstart is a preschool for low-income families. Headstart is a place of games, reading stories, snacks, and very loving children. It's a great opportunity to influence and grow children because they are at such a young age. We are currently looking for volunteers who can committ to 1-2 hours of service per week.

Kid Connection After School Program
Kid Connection helps out with After-School programs for elementary and middle schools around the area. Help by mentoring local youth weekday afternoons in dance, wrestling, computer classes, tutoring, and other extracurricular activities. Make the Connection with Kid Connection! Mentor opportunities are also available at Rigby Middle School helping with Math and Reading on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Transporation is provided to go to Rigby.

One by One
One by One is a service opportunity that is determined completely by you. If you see a need or have a project in mind, then One by One is the place to receive direction, gain access to avaliable resources, and then direct a group of volunteers to accomplish your project. You can begin by submitting your idea and then filling out the project proposal application. Once you have completed the application, you may turn it in to the Service Advisor in Rigby 214. Your project proposal will then be reviewed by the student service directors.

Serving the "R"
Serving the "R" is a program that reaches out to the Rexburg community to help facilitate and organize volunteers for numerous community events and to find new service opportunities for students. Currently, we are looking for volunteers to help with the Rush Triathlon that will be held Rexburg. Volunteers are needed to help at the transfer stations, manage traffic, and man water stations. Free t-shirts for all volunteers.

Radio Reading
Radio Reading is a program organized to serve the sight impared of the local communtiy by reading local news over the radio. Volunteers will be asked to commit to a half hour shift each week. If the volunteer can't attend their shift they are asked to find someone to cover the shift. The Radio Reading office is open between 5:30pm and 9pm in the Radio and Graphic Services Bldg. Rexburg Nursing
Come form friendships with other students and senior citizens at the Rexburg Nursing Center by participating in a variety of weekly activites including talent shows, finger painting, cookie decorating, volleyball, and more. Make your life and others' more meaningful by extending a hand of friendship and charity to elderly residents in need of TLC (tender loving care).

Serving with Smiles
Serving with Smiles gives students the opportunity to build new friendships and a life-long love for service through service to Rexburg and other surrounding communities on a monthly basis. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with "Celebrate Youth," a community event for all the youth of the area held at Porter Park in Rexburg. Volunteers will help man carnival booths and help with clean up. Free T-shirts are given to volunteers

Special Olympics
Come and serve with some of the greatest people in the Rexburg area! Volunteers are also needed for the World Special Olympics Winter Games that will be held in Boise, Idaho, in February, 2009. Team Madison
Team Madison is a volunteer program at Madison Memorial Hospital. This program was created to help provide the highest quality healthcare in the nation. Volunteers have the opportunity to interact with patients, their families, and the hospital’s staff to help make their stay here as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This is a great opportunity to serve the community.
