Frequently Asked Questions Open

What is Pond Skimming?

Pond Skimming is where an individual comes down a hill either using skis, snowboard or an airboard and tries to “skim” across the cold pond of water without crashing.

When, Where, Why, How?
When: February 5th, 2009 7:00 pm
Where: Upper Fields next to the ice rink
Why:Because it is more fun than sitting in your apartment
How: Register to ski, snowboard or airboard by purchasing a ticket from the ticket office
What is an airboard?
An airboard is a lot like sledding except with more speed and better aerodynamics. The air board is an inflatable sled. Where can I get an airboard? The ORC (Outdoor Resource Center) is a rental shop that has the airboards for rent.
Who can participate?
Student or a spouse of a student can participate.
What if I can’t ski or snowboard?
For those who can’t ski or snowboard, the airboard is an excellent means of skimming.
How do I sign up?
You can buy a ticket to participate at the ticket office or online.
Is there a fee to come and watch?
NO! We encourage everyone to come and enjoy this crazy event.
Is there a meeting to explain more about the event?
YES! There is a mandatory meeting on Thursday, January 29th at 2:00 pm in Taylor 120. This is the time to ask questions, find out the rules and register to participate.
